Impressions!
My blog address is "primaryimpressions" because it seems that my ideas sometimes will come as impressions in the middle of the night! Whether you are a new chorister, or have been in the calling as long as I have, you are always looking for new ideas!

"Finish The Sentence"
This is fun idea when teaching a new song. I put the bell on the table and call two children up to play against each other. I have them put one hand on the table next to the bell and then I ask them to "Finish the Sentence" of the song. For example: "Choose the Right, when the ______________" Whoever rings the bell first has a chance to finish the sentence. If they are correct then I congratulate them and then we sing the song. If not, I give the other child a chance to finish the sentence. (I make them ring the bell though because that is the part they love). I was amazed at how well the Junior Primary children are able to do this. I usually don't make it as difficult for them. I do like to challenge the Senior Primary though. This is a good way to help the children to learn and remember the songs.

I just love this idea. I think my Sunbeams are going to have the most fun with this since it involves ringing a bell! Thank you for sharing : )
ReplyDeleteWe did this today and it was a huge hit for both Jr and Sr Primary.
ReplyDeleteI thought it would be fun to play boys vs girls. (They loved it) I also brought in 2 oversized huge colorful glasses and whoever was called up they had to put the glasses on. Some of the older kids I had them go up against teachers and they thought they were pretty cool if they beat them! Thanks for posting this!
I just bought 2 of these bells while on vacation. I knew we needed them for something.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'm doing this! What a fun idea! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this great idea. I can even use our "Pit" game bell for it. I will use it tomorrow and report back.
ReplyDeleteThere are bell apps on your phone that you can use, too, with many variations including train whistle, gong, and more!
